Tuesday in the toilet

The end of the first day of July 2014 didn’t come soon enough for me. It was a very rough one. Very rough. I’m drained and sad from what happened yesterday.

It looked like it would be another good day. I got to Buffalo Wild Wings well before 11, and I caught Elizabeth going in and honked at her, so she waited for me before we went in together. I had to get there before opening, which I don’t do except during football season, in order to be ready for the crush for the USA-Belgium World Cup match.

Buzztime trivia was fine for the most part from 11 a.m. through 1:30 p.m. There was a family which came in where the parents were helping their kids in an attempt to beat me, but sorry, I wasn’t going to let it happen.

At 1:30, the one person I did not want to see playing Buzztime showed up. The one person who gets under my skin and angers me. The one person who turns what should be fun into stress.

His screen name is RONDO. He sits at the bar and drinks Guinness Stout. He has a smug look on his face, like he knows everything. He’s the type of player I want to beat every time I see him on the screen.

Unfortunately, a little after 2 p.m., he got under my skin too much. He was far ahead of me, and I screamed “GOD DAMMIT!” at the top of my lungs. Liz got on me, rightfully so, for screaming and making a big deal out of the game. But I was wound really tight.

I love sports, but I was never good enough to play. I am clumsy beyond belief. I tried playing baseball and basketball, but I wasn’t worth a flip. To me, Buzztime has become my sport, where I don’t like to lose. I know I shouldn’t be this way, because (a) it’s supposed to be fun and (b) I win far more often than not, but for some reason, RONDO irks me. Really irks me.

I fear I’m starting to wear out my welcome at this Buffalo Wild Wings. I’m afraid some people on the staff are starting to get scared of me if they aren’t already, and I fear I’m going to get the same treatment there I got at the Kansas City Airport Marriott, which is banned for life.

I ended up staying until 8:30. RONDO left at 4. Without him there, I could finally relax, although it was hard for me to get rid of the stress.
