Not just another Tuesday

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Are you wearing your green? I know I will be when I go to Buffalo Wild Wings in a little bit. I will never make the mistake of not wearing green on St. Patrick’s Day again after I committed the faux pas in 1988 when I was in the sixth grade at Arabi Park Middle School. I got pinched quite a bit by some vicious kids. (Don’t worry, Stacie, you were not one of them). The only times I haven’t worn green on St. Patrick’s Day since were school days at Brother Martin when I had to wear the khaki school uniform.

There have been some hilarious hijinks on St. Patrick’s Day for your blogger, some of which I will go into detail later.

I left Buffalo Wild Wings at 9 last night. It was a very good seven hours, although I now wish I would have arrived earlier. Lisa got slammed during her shift. With the mercury soaring to 83 degrees–a record for March 16–yesterday, many people chose to sit on the patio, and Lisa had to handle it, in addition to her duties as bartender. For the first time I can recall, she didn’t say goodbye when she left, but I completely understand.

Tori was behind the bar last night, and it was a very good time, especially when Dawn and her husband came in to play trivia. I helped her with quite a few answers. We also caught one egregious mistake, when a question asked what Little Jack Horner was eating. We all know it’s curds and whey, but the question said the correct answer was Christmas pie. WHAT THE HELL MAN? I tweeted Buzztime right away and Dawn retweeted it. Hopefully it will get corrected.

I’ve wrapped up my work for the Tuesday papers. I have to get going in a little bit so I don’t miss Lisa.

The NCAA men’s basketball tournament starts tonight with two of the four First Four games, or play-in games to the main bracket of 64. The first game matches Manhattan and Hampton, which won the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament and is in the tournament at 16-17. The reward for the winner? A bus ride from Dayton to Louisville and a meeting with Kentucky Thursday night. Awesome.

The second game tonight is BYU and Ole Miss. The Cougars are in largely on the strength of their victory at Gonzaga last month. The Rebels have lost four of their last five, including horrendous losses to Vanderbilt and South Carolina in their most recent games. However, the winner has a very winnable game vs. Xavier in the first round.

Okay enough of that. Time to get ready and then regale you with stories of St. Paddy’s Days past.

About David

Louisiana native living in Kansas. New Orleans born, LSU graduate. I have Asperger’s Syndrome, one toe less than most humans, addictions to The Brady Bunch, Lifetime movies, Bluey, most sports, food and trivia. Big fan of Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee Brewers, New Orleans Saints, Montreal Canadiens. Was a big fan of Quebec Nordiques until they moved to Denver. My only celebrity crush is NFL official Sarah Thomas. I strongly dislike LSU fans who think Alabama is its biggest rival, warm weather, steaks cooked more than rare, hot dogs with ketchup, restaurants without online ordering, ranch dressing, Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Alex Ovechkin, Barry Bonds, Putin, his lover in Belarus, North Korean dictators, Venezuelan dictators, all NHL teams in the south (especially the Lightning and Panthers), Brooklyn Nets and Major League Soccer.

  1. It was Little Miss Muffet who was eating her curds and whey.
