Back to KC
I am writing this from Kansas City, where I arrived yesterday morning. I left Russell just before 6 a.m. and drove through two downpours. The first began at the house and lasted through Russell County. The second was in Junction City and the Flint Hills, not stopping until almost Topeka. There was one point where I was down to 50 MPH (80 km/h), which was around Fort Riley.
I refilled the tank in Topeka, because gas is 21 cents cheaper there than it is in Platte County. If you think it’s high there, it’s worse in Johnson County and Lawrence. Last Saturday when I drove to Lawrence, it was $2.18, compared to $1.82 in Topeka. OUCH.
I checked into the Courtyard on Tiffany Springs at 10 a.m. I love mobile check-in. It allowed me to unload the car before going to Buffalo Wild Wings, meaning I didn’t have to leave and come back.
I spent 10 hours at B-Dubs. Robb and Dawn Amos showed up, and it was a very good time. Memo to self: don’t spend three months away ever again.
I had a good night of sleep. I brought my APAP machine with me, although the case was a little moist. Note to self: next time, dump the humidor water chamber before travelling. I will do so when I go back to Russell. I need to find some distilled water. The Hy-Vee in Topeka was all out. I probably should have driven down 29th to Dillon’s, but it didn’t come to mind.
I have to make a stop at the store before going to Buffalo Wild Wings today. Long day of trivia ahead.
