I’m sitting alone in my basement of my lonely house in Russell. I’m about to go to bed.
It’s been a bad Friday. Really bad. The first full day of my 40s has been an unmitigated disaster.
I have done absolutely NOTHING. I have achieved absolutely NOTHING. I’ve wasted a day. If I was going to waste a day, I should have just slept all day. This goddamn CPAP is making me stay up way too long and not get a nap. I bought some ZZZQuill last week, yet I still haven’t taken any.
I really do not want to go out tomorrow, Sunday or Monday, because it’s going to be so fucking hot. I fucking hate Kansas right now. It should not be NINETY FUCKING DEGREES (32 FUCKING DEGREES CELSIUS) on October 15, 16 and 17 in Kansas. That is fucking ridiculous. If I wanted 90 degrees in mid-October, I would have returned to LOSER-ANA many moons ago.
I do not want to go to a high school gymnasium without air conditioning to watch volleyball. So guess what? I AM NOT. Forget that. I don’t care how much anyone bellyaches. Right now, I’m probably going to stay home and forget about everything. I really have no desire to drive, even if it is only to Hays, to sweat in a hot gym.
TMP has no business hosting the Mid-Continent League volleyball tournament. Neither do many schools in the league. Ideally, it should only be at Plainville or Trego, which have two courts in their gyms. Phillipsburg is fine since it is in the same building. Stockton isn’t ideal, but you don’t have to drive to another physical location. Ellis, Hill City, Norton, Oakley, Smith Center and TMP all need to bow out of the rotation. If the Monarchs want to host that badly, do it at Hays High. At least Osborne and Victoria aren’t in the league anymore.
Same thing with track. If a school doesn’t have an eight-lane, all-weather track AND fully automatic timing, it can’t host. So that would leave Hill City, Phillipsburg, Plainville and Smith Center. TMP could host if it did it at Fort Hays.
Let wrestling go to Norton permanently.
Why the hell am I even watching college football right now? The fucking Blu-Ray player distorts the DVDs I’m trying to play. What the hell am I doing watching Memphis, which I despise more than just about any college athletic program on earth, and Tulane, which hasn’t done a damn thing since 1973?
I have no clue why, but October 14 has usually been a very, very bad day for me. The lone exception was 2003, when Brenda LeBlanc and I went out to dinner with a few other friends after a St. Joseph’s Academy volleyball match at Tara. Other than that, the day after my birthday has generally been a bust.
Memphis is a shithole. SHIT HOLE. Got it? Elvis was the only good thing about that place.
