Despite Lisa and Samantha asking me not to drive back to Russell tonight, I decided at 9 p.m. to get on the road back to Russell. Following a stop for gas and snacks at the Quik Trip on Barry Road, I was on my way. There was some construction near Bonner Springs which had I-70 near K-7 down to one lane, but once I got past that, it was smooth sailing.

The only stop I made was at the rest area near Paxico to use the restroom. Besides, all that was open west of Topeka were the Burger King in Abilene and the McDonald’s in Salina. I said no thanks and kept on trucking.

I pulled into my garage at 12:50. Three hours and 35 minutes after I pulled away from the pump at Quik Trip. Pretty good. Do I go back later today? Well first I have to get a haircut and do some laundry.

I told Lisa I would be back Saturday. Liz is working later today. It’s tempting.
