Friday from a familiar spot

I probably should have stuck around Buffalo Wild Wings longer last night, but since I had been there past closing time Wednesday night (and into Thursday morning), plus I had to check in at a hotel 35 minutes away, I decided to call it a night at 9 p.m. I felt bad doing it because Lisa was taking care of me and I wanted to be there for her, but she understood. She’s a real sweetheart. I’m so glad she’s come into my life.

The Chiefs won their exhibition game over the Bengals last night 41-39. However, the Kansas City regulars fell behind 10-0 early, so there is a lot of work to do. There are plenty of exhibitions tonight.

A group of Broncos fans were angry their exhibition game vs. Seattle wasn’t available at Buffalo Wild Wings last night. However, everyone had better keep in mind that exhibition games are not part of the NFL Sunday Ticket package on DirecTV. The only exhibition games available in Kansas City are (a) the Chiefs and (b) games picked up by CBS, NBC,, Fox, ESPN or NFL Network.

I’ve been trying to fight off the fatigue which seems to be typical for me on Friday mornings at hotels. The last time I was in Kansas City on a Friday, I didn’t go to Buffalo Wild Wings because I thought I was going to a Royals game with Jack and Kathy Krier, but it turns out they didn’t have a ticket for me, so I ended up spending my night at the Marriott.

Since it’s Friday, I think the popcorn shrimp at Buffalo Wild Wings would be appropriate. Catholics have not had to abstain from meat on Fridays for the full year since the Second Vatican Council lifted the restriction outside of Lent in 1966, but I like seafood too much to pass it up.

It’s supposed to be a little cooler today, which is a welcome relief after it was so stinking hot and humid the first three days I was here. All that heat and humidity contributed to the gullywasher we experienced here Wednesday night.

Okay, enough horsing around on the computer. Time to take action.
